Crab Cove

About the Game
Crab Cove was my final project for a 4th-year Advanced Game Development course during my time in the Interactive Multimedia and Design Program at Carleton University.
In the game, you play as a crab whose goal is to hunt for treasures on and within a sandy beach to use in decorating your sand castle home. I worked within a team of 4 students to develop this game, from conceptualization to the finished product, over the course of 4 months.

The game was developed in Unity alongside Autodesk Maya for 3D modelling and animation.
One of the primary challenge posed in the assignment of this project was to explore and implement the concept of “Game Feel”, in other words, stimulating or simulating physical sensations through elements presented in the game. To do this, we experimented with sound, haptic feedback (controller rumble), and visuals (camera movements, particles, animations, etc.) with the goal of simulating the experience of interacting with a beach environment.
Personal Contributions
While each member of the team collaborated with one another on most elements of the game, my primary contributions to this project were creating 3D models for the environment, creating visual effects, and programming the terrain manipulation to allow the crab to dig in the sand.
The game can currently be played in-browser or downloaded through Itch.io. It does not support keyboard inputs and will require a controller to be played.
